The Second Presidential Debate Recap

Overall, the debate was not a chuck full of issues, but instead it was full of rhetoric. Each candidate tried to better their opponent with who had the better rhetoric. There was no rebuttal opportunities because Tom Brokaw did not allow them to time to do so. This was not a real townhall meeting and because of that this debate failed as a way for Americans to be informed on the candidates. The questions were so limited in scope that many undecided Americans would not be able to really understand all the candidate's issues and viewpoints. It was boring and bland and it was only a question and answer session.

On many issues, McCain was better on rhetoric. On the issues of taxes, McCain did a good job explaining that he does not want to raise taxes on anybody compared to Obama raising taxes on the top five percent. Finally, on health care he explained his detailed proposal so all Americans would realize that his plan is better than Senator Obama's. All I can say is that on the question of Israel, McCain came out stronger as an ally of Israel. Obama would first approach the UN if a problem with Israel arises, but McCain said brilliantly and effic tively his position, "Of course we would come to their aid without waiting for the UN." That was probably the only moment that I at least will remember, but there really were not any memorable moments to take from this "debate" and I have very little to comment on the actual answers from both candidates, but only that this "debate" failed the American people and was a complete waste of time.
