The Third and Final Presidential Debate

Tonight is the third and final presidential debate between Barack Obama and John McCain. This is really the last time that the American people have a chance to view both candidates. Many argue that this McCain's chance to finally win over the American people, but is this really true? Most Americans are decided by now and those undecided voters (small proportion of the population) have slowly been swayed to Barack Obama's side based on recent polls. The fact is that John McCain will have a difficult job in convincing many Americans who are not for him to vote for him after tonight. Those that are sucked up in Obama's rhetoric of hope and change, will not change their minds after tonight's debate. The feat is nearly impossible, but McCain still might have a chance to do it.

He needs to appeal to all Americans and layout all his tax plans and how his plans differ with Obama's and why his plan is better. McCain should not fudge up the numbers tonight because it only makes him look weaker. The argument that with Obama's plans he would have to raise taxes to accomplish all of his ideas is valid, but it is not a good point to argue without substantial facts. McCain consistently does that in every debate, but it does not help him garner more support because conservatives understand this, but the rest of the country does not. The economy is looking like one headed toward a recession and McCain needs to emphasize his pro-growth plans for America and how he plans to cut taxes and reform taxes. When Barack Obama brings up his 95% tax cut for all Americans, McCain needs to come out and debunk that myth. He needs to explain that the majority of Americans do not pay income tax, therefore his tax cut is really a tax credit and a redistribution of wealth. If McCain does not bring this point up, then he would have failed the debate.  McCain needs to explicitly state which programs he would cut that are wasteful.

I really hope that Bob Schieffer of CBS News, brings up other important domestic policy matters like abortion, gay marriage, guns, and one that is very important to me judges. If those issues are not brought up then this debate failed the American people. The economy is important, but if the document which is the rule of law in America (the Constitution) is not discussed, this debate would serve no purpose. On abortion, McCain needs to come out and show how radical Obama is by stating his vote on the Born Alive Infants Protection Act. McCain needs to ask the question to Obama when he actually thinks a baby is a baby. On the issue of guns, McCain needs to state that if Obama supports the striking of the DC gun ban, why does he still support judges that ruled in favor of the ban. Which brings me to judges, the most important issue to me, John McCain should point out that Barack Obama voted against the confirmation of Chief Justice John Roberts and Samuel Alito to the Supreme Court and that these judges understand the meaning of the Constitution and had no intents of purposes of changing it, but according to Obama a living Constitution is necessary. John McCain needs to explain why America can not have a living Constitution. I really am hoping that these issues come up because the economy is important but character and judgment is also important.

John McCain can win this debate as long as he states his plans for America and explains that Obama's plans are so far to the left, ones which that America has never seen before. McCain needs to explain that this country does not and should never embrace socialism and that Barack Obama's plans of redistributing of wealth is socialism. I said before if he does not debunk Obama's tax plans, then he has failed the debate and all might be lost. John McCain might be able to convince some voters to change sides or to pick a side, but he needs to tell the American people what Obama's fellow Democrats said during the primaries how he is not ready and he is not right to be commander in chief. No Republican said that John McCain is not ready during the primaries and McCain should discuss this point. He must talk straight with the American people tonight and try to let them understand what a Barack Obama administration means to this great country; absolute destruction of our Constitution and our way of life.
