One
of the most vocal opponents in Hollywood to President George W. Bush,
the war in Iraq and the botched rescue of Hurricane Katrina victims
declared peace with American politics this week with the election of
Barack Obama as the next president.
“I was sitting on the edge of the bed with my family watching our
new president-elect,” actor/director Sean Penn said Thursday night as
he collected the Britannia Award for Excellence in Film from the Los
Angeles chapter of BAFTA, the British Academy of Film and Television Arts.
“I have never been able to put the word ‘my’ before president
before,” he added, prompting loud applause from the British-American
film industry crowd that also honored actors Tilda Swinton and Don
Cheadle and director Stephen Frears.
This is what the left has been doing the last eight years of President Bush's presidency. They have said he isn't my president because either they did not vote for him or because he stole the election. I did not vote for President-Elect Barack Obama, but once he is sworn in on Janurary 20, 2009 he will be my president. A caller called in to the Glenn Beck radio program on I think Thursday and he said that Barack Obama is not my president. Glenn Beck responded by saying that the caller is un-American for saying that and I completely agree with that statement. If you believe that a person who gets elected and follows the Constitution's laws to get elected is not your president, then yes you are un-American. Then, you don't believe in our Constitution. The Constitution says how a person should get elected and Barack Obama did not break those laws. Therefore, he is America's president. This statement should not be tolerated by either party or by anybody else because he is our president and saying otherwise does make you un-American who does not believe in our Constitution.
