The President of Ameria is Always My President

Sean Penn talking about “My President”

Posted by: Mary Milliken

One of the most vocal opponents in Hollywood to President George W. Bush, the war in Iraq and the botched rescue of Hurricane Katrina victims declared peace with American politics this week with the election of Barack Obama as the next president.

“I was sitting on the edge of the bed with my family watching our new president-elect,” actor/director Sean Penn said Thursday night as he collected the Britannia Award for Excellence in Film from the Los Angeles chapter of BAFTA, the British Academy of Film and Television Arts.

“I have never been able to put the word ‘my’ before president before,” he added, prompting loud applause from the British-American film industry crowd that also honored actors Tilda Swinton and Don Cheadle and director Stephen Frears.

This is what the left has been doing the last eight years of President Bush's presidency. They have said he isn't my president because either they did not vote for him or because he stole the election. I did not vote for President-Elect Barack Obama, but once he is sworn in on Janurary 20, 2009 he will be my president. A caller called in to the Glenn Beck radio program on I think Thursday and he said that Barack Obama is not my president. Glenn Beck responded by saying that the caller is un-American for saying that and I completely agree with that statement. If you believe that a person who gets elected and follows the Constitution's laws to get elected is not your president, then yes you are un-American. Then, you don't believe in our Constitution. The Constitution says how a person should get elected  and Barack Obama did not break those  laws. Therefore, he is America's president. This statement should not be tolerated by either party or by anybody else because he is our president and saying otherwise does make you un-American who does not believe in our Constitution.

Talking to Terrorist Organizations

In an exclusive interview with Sky News, the leader of Hamas says he is ready to talk to Barack Obama.

Speaking from his refuge in the Syrian capital Damascus, Khaled Meshaal gave his reaction to Mr Obama's election.

"There is no doubt that the recent American election is a big change when you get an American president with African roots," he said.

"It's a big change - political and psychological - and it is noteworthy and I congratulate President Obama.

"But as a result of the election and the change, he should know he has duties to the United States and in the whole world and in hotspots especially in the Middle East."

The leader of the Palestinian militant movement picked up on Mr Obama's offer to talk to America's enemies and threw down this gauntlet for the new President-elect.

"Yes we are ready for dialogue with President Obama and with the new American administration with an open mind, on the basis that the American administration respects our rights and our options," said Mr Meshaal.

Already Making Mistakes

Obama apologizes to Nancy Reagan for 'careless' joke

President-elect Barack Obama called Nancy Reagan this afternoon to apologize for a joke about her having heald "séances" in the White House, an Obama aide said.

“President-elect Barack Obama called Nancy Reagan today to apologize for the careless and off handed remark he made during today’s press conference," said transition spokeswoman Stephanie Cutter. "The President-elect expressed his admiration and affection for Mrs. Reagan that so many Americans share and they had a warm conversation."

That is Low Making Fun of Nancy Reagan

Obama says in his first post-election press conference that he's spoken to all the former presidents — Carter, Bush, Clinton, as well as the current Bush — and, looser than he's been in months, dares a joke at the expense of the widow of the most recently deceased.

"I have spoken to all of them who are living," he says. "I didn’t want to get into a Nancy Reagan thing about doing any séances," he says.

Vote Differential Has Gotten Tighter

Franken's deficit: 239 votes

Sen. Norm Coleman's Democratic challenger is vowing to push ahead with a recount.

By PATRICIA LOPEZ, Star Tribune

Just as Secretary of State Mark Ritchie was explaining to reporters the recount process in one of the narrowest elections in Minnesota history, an aide rushed in with news: Pine County's Partridge Township had revised its vote total upward -- another 100 votes for Democratic candidate Al Franken, putting him within .011 percentage points of Republican U.S. Sen. Norm Coleman.

What Happened to We Report You Decide?

Confirming the worst fears of millions of dedicated fans, the Fox News Channel really has gone soft on Obama. That's at a time when viewers are counting on it to remain a key opposition voice during a disturbing political shift away from freedom and prosperity.

Fox News boss Roger Ailes doesn't want to spoil Barack Obama's political honeymoon, we hear. A source says Ailes has told prime-time hosts Bill O'Reilly, Sean Hannity and Greta Van Susteren to lay off the President-elect - at least for a while. "We're not going to have any personal attacks on Obama," a network insider says. "The public has spoken - we must treat him with respect."

The reason that I respected Fox News was because of their motto "We Report, You Decide." But, apparently it is now "We Report, Roger Ailes decides" I only watched Fox News because I thought they offered a balance approach to both John McCain and Barack Obama. But, this is crazy. You can treat the future president with respect, but still report the truth and let the viewing public decide. It does not matter who they report on, it should always be fair and balanced and this statement and decision by Roger Ailes is not fair and balanced.

Political Bias in the Classrooms

I first heard this video on the Glenn Beck program and it is quite disturbing. It is a Finnish documentary and in one scene it shows how a teacher in Asheville, NC bias gets a hold of her. She asked kids who are still in elementary school who they were supporting and then it just got much worse. 18 seconds in, the teacher starts teaching her lesson.

Here is the video:

I Like Lieberman, But He Does Not Belong in the Republican Conference

McConnell reaches out to Lieberman

By | 11/7/08 11:55 AM EST

Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) has reached out to Sen. Joseph I. Lieberman (I-Conn.) about the prospect of joining the Republican Conference, but Lieberman is still bargaining with Democratic leaders to keep his chairmanship, according to Senate aides in both parties.

This is the wrong move if the Republican Party wants to get conservatives back in their party. I respect and admire Lieberman, but he is still to the left on most important domestic policy matters. It was great to see him support McCain and speak at the Republican Convention, but to be a member of the Republican Conference that just shouldn't happen. Unless, Lieberman wants to change all his domestic policy views to a more conservative viewpoint, he should be excluded from the Republican Conference. This is another bad decision by our "supposed" leader Minority Leader Senator Mitch McConnell. This offer does not make more conservatives happy about the prospects of the Republican Party becoming once again conservative.

This is China

Following The Trail Of Toxic E-Waste

60 Minutes Crew Gets Roughed Up Reporting On Electronic Waste Shipped Illegally From U.S.

(CBS) When 60 Minutes correspondent Scott Pelley and his crew went to China to record the black market dismantling of electronic waste, or "e-waste," the experience was almost as hazardous for the 60 Minutes team as working with the toxic material is for poor Chinese workers.

Jumped by a gang of men overseeing the e-waste operations who tried to take the CBS team's cameras, Pelley’s crew managed to escape and bring back footage of the hazardous activities. Pelley's investigation will be broadcast this Sunday, Nov. 9, at 7 p.m. ET/PT.

Obama is Surrounding Himself With Freddie Mac

President-elect Barack Obama's newly appointed chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel, served on the board of directors of the federal mortgage firm Freddie Mac at a time when scandal was brewing at the troubled agency and the board failed to spot "red flags," according to government reports reviewed by ABCNews.com.

According to a complaint later filed by the Securities and Exchange Commission, Freddie Mac, known formally as the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation, misreported profits by billions of dollars in order to deceive investors between the years 2000 and 2002.

Maybe Lieberman Can Switch Over to the Good Side

Reid looking to remove Lieberman as committee head
 Email this Story

Nov 6, 7:01 PM (ET)

By ANDREW MIGA

WASHINGTON (AP) - Sen. Joe Lieberman's affiliation with Democrats was in question after a meeting Thursday with Majority Leader Harry Reid, steamed over the Connecticut independent's high-profile support of John McCain for president.

Reid, in a sternly worded statement after the 45-minute meeting, said no official decisions have been made. But an aide to the Nevada Democrat said Reid was leaning toward removing Lieberman as chairman of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee. The aide spoke on condition of anonymity because the discussions were confidential.
