The only way Hamas will stop firing rockets on Israel is if they are completely destroyed. There cannot be any negotiations because a. who knows Hamas will stop firing rockets at Israel and most importantly b. Hamas does not recognize Israel's right to exist. Hamas will not stop firing rockets until Israel is destroyed so why should Israel let their citizens continue to die or get injured for the sake of appeasing a terrorist organization and other countries. This operation shows so far even with the protests, Israel is determined to go forward in trying to decimate Hamas' capabilities to fire rockets at Israel. The question is now as it has happened time and time again whether or not Israel will crack under international pressure.
The way to show that they should be taken seriously is to move forward with a ground invasion. Yes, Israeli soldiers'' lives will be lost, but this is the only way to show Israel's determination in fighting terrorists who try to do their citizens harm. This ground invasion will also show that even amid international pressure, Israel is doing what is right by its citizenry. This is Israel's real test to see if they really care about destroying terrorist organizations or they care more about how other countries think about them. I hope Israel will rise to the challenge and move forward with a ground invasion and then hopefully decimate Hamas.
Correction: I made a mistake when I first posted this; I misunderstood and thought that President Bush is no longer defending Israel's air strikes, but instead he wants peace to occur and the way to do that is for Hamas to stop firing rockets at Israel
