http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/files/elections/2009/by_county/NY_US_House_0331.html?SITE=NYSAR&SECTION=POLITICS

This from Politico: Just chatted with Saratoga County Republican party chairman Jasper Nolan here at Republican Jim Tedisco's party.

Nolan said he doesn’t think that the race will be called tonight because there are about 10,000 outstanding absentee ballots left to be counted -- and he thinks that tonight’s margin will be within that number.

Update: All the counties have been tallied and Murphy leads by 65 votes. Now we just have to wait to find out the schedule for dealing with the absentee ballots.

Update: With 100 percent of precincts reporting, Murphy had 77,344 votes to Tedisco's 77,279. Somewhere between 6,000 and 10,000 military and absentee ballots remain uncounted, according to the Associated Press, and overseas absentee ballots will continue be accepted until April 13. In short, no winner will be declared any time soon.

It's Great to Know That Israel Actually Has a Leader That Will Do Everything in Their Power to Protect Themselves

Netanyahu to Obama: Stop Iran—Or I Will

In an interview conducted shortly before he was sworn in today as prime minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu laid down a challenge for Barack Obama. The American president, he said, must stop Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons—and quickly—or an imperiled Israel may be forced to attack Iran’s nuclear facilities itself.

It's Really More Money Than We Thought

TARP taxpayer commitment $2.9 trillion
Posted: 03/31/09 11:55 AM [ET]
At $2.9 trillion, the total risk to taxpayers of the financial bailout package Congress passed last year dwarfs the original $700 billion cost of the program, a watchdog office said on Tuesday.

The special inspector general appointed to oversee the bailout package, the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP), said that the $700 billion does not include the additional financing and associated programs run by the Federal Reserve and Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation. Once it is all added together, the $700 billion sum balloons to $2.9 trillion in taxpayer commitments.

Rep Murtha Believes Taking Care of a District Means you Have to Be Corrupt

Did Murtha Say What He Meant?

“If I’m corrupt, it’s because I take care of my district.”

So said Rep. John P. Murtha , D-Pa., in a weekend interview with a home-state newspaper. What he was trying to convey was that the only thing his critics can complain about is his success in directing federal dollars to his district — if “taking care of” his district is a bad thing, well, then, he’s all for bad things.
