2nd Amendment Victory Today Handed Down by the Ninth Circuit

Second Amendment extended

The Constitution’s protection of an individual right to have guns for personal use restricts the powers of state and local government as much as it does those of the federal government, the Ninth Circuit Court ruled Monday.  The opinion by the three-judge panel can be found here.  This is the first ruling by a federal appeals court to extend the Second Amendment to the state and local level.  Several cases on the same issue are now awaiting a ruling by the Seventh Circuit Court.

RNC Beat DNC in March Fundraising

RNC beats DNC in March fundraising
Posted: 04/20/09 10:52 AM [ET]
Even with the president on its side, the Democratic National Committee's (DNC) fundraising woes continued in March as the party earned fewer individual donations than did its GOP rivals.

The Republican National Committee, under new Chairman Michael Steele, pulled in $6.7 million in March, padding the committee's swollen bank accounts and ending the month with $23.9 million cash on hand. That's higher than the $5.26 million the RNC raised in February, Steele's first month as chairman.
The DNC, which hosted President Obama's first fundraiser since being sworn in in January, posted just $5.57 million raised from individual donors, down from the $6.6 million raised in February. Obama's fundraiser brought in $3 million, a DNC source told The Hill.

Cheney Says That the CIA Should Declassify Memos That Shows the Success of President Bush's Interrogation Tactics

Cheney Calls for Legal Memos to be Declassified
Mon Apr 20 2009 16:20:53 ET

In a two part interview airing tonight and tomorrow night on FOX News Channel’s Hannity (9-10PM ET), former Vice President Dick Cheney shared his thoughts on the CIA memos that were recently declassified and also revealed his request to the CIA to declassify additional memos that confirm the success of the Bush administration’s interrogation tactics:

CHENEY:

“One of the things that I find a little bit disturbing about this recent disclosure is they put out the legal memos, the memos that the CIA got from the Office of Legal Counsel, but they didn't put out the memos that showed the success of the effort. And there are reports that show specifically what we gained as a result of this activity. They have not been declassified.”

The AP Takes Obama to Task That is Change I Can Believe In

SPIN METER: Saving federal money the easy way

SPIN METER: Obama's latest budget-tightening effort hardly makes a dime's worth of difference

  • Monday April 20, 2009, 4:18 pm EDT

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Cut a latte or two out of your annual budget and you've just done as much belt-tightening as President Barack Obama asked of his Cabinet on Monday.

The thrifty measures Obama ordered for federal agencies are the equivalent of asking a family that spends $60,000 in a year to save $6.

White House Lawyers Ignore Memo Saying that Uighur Chinese Muslims Held at Guantanamo are Too Dangerous to be Released into the United States

The Uighurs and the 'Torture' Memos

White House lawyers are refusing to accept the findings of an inter-agency committee that the Uighur Chinese Muslims held at Guantanamo Bay are too dangerous to release inside the U.S., according to Pentagon sources familiar with the action.

This action -- coupled with the release of previously top secret legal opinions on harsh interrogation methods -- demonstrates the Obama administration’s willingness to ignore reality.

More Nonsense About the So Called Theory of "Global Warming?

Energy Secretary Offers Dire Global Warming Prediction

PORT-OF-SPAIN, Trinidad and Tobago -- Caribbean nations face "very, very scary" rises in sea level and intensifying hurricanes, and Florida, Louisiana and even northern California could be overrun with rising water levels due to global warming triggered by carbon-based greenhouse gases, Energy Secretary Steven Chu said Saturday.

Tea Parties are "Unhealthy"

Posted: 11:18 AM ET

From

WASHINGTON (CNN) – Senior White House adviser David Axelrod on Sunday suggested the "Tea Party" movement is an "unhealthy" reaction to the tough economic climate facing the country.

Axelrod was asked on CBS's "Face the Nation" about the "spreading and very public disaffection" with the president's fiscal policies seen at the "Tea Party" rallies around the country last week.

This is Why the United States Needs to Pull Out of the UN Immediately and Stop Funding This Useless Organization

Walkout at UN conference after Iran president calls Israel 'racist'

Western delegates staged a dramatic walkout today as President Ahmadinejad of Iran addressed a major United Nations conference on racism.

The co-ordinated walkout came after Mr Ahmadinejad accused Israel of being a racist regime and left the week-long conference in tatters. Among the diplomats seen leaving the room were envoys from Britain, France and Canada, who had all threatened to stand up and leave if the Iranian president made anti-Semitic statements.

Nine Western countries, including Israel and the United States, had already decided to boycott the conference entirely because its draft declaration mentioned the conclusions of an anti-racism conference in South Africa eight years ago in which Islamic nations pushed through a text equating Zionism and racism.

Book Recommendation

About a month ago I mentioned a book that all of my readers should read and that book was "Liberty and Tyranny" A Conservative Manifesto by Mark Levin. I have just finished the book and now I can honestly give a better recommendation. This book is as important to me as the Declaration of Independence, United States Constitution, Federalist Papers, Barry Goldwater's "The Conscience of a Conservative." It truly is a remarkable book and it is a quick read. I strongly recommend this book to all of my readers of this blog.

Looking Less and Less of a Tedisco Win

Murphy on track to win special election

With all of the unchallenged absentee and overseas military ballots counted, Democrat Scott Murphy leads Republican Jim Tedisco by 273 votes and looks in extremely strong position to prevail in the New York special election.

Murphy has 79,839 votes, while Tedisco has 79,566 votes.

Fueling Democratic optimism is the source of the 1,773 ballots that have been challenged by both campaigns, and left out of the current count. According to a database provided by the Murphy campaign, the plurality of those challenged ballots were cast by registered Democrats.

Of the 1,773 ballots not included in the count, 810 were cast by registered Democrats, 653 were from registered Republicans and 310 were from independent or unaffiliated voters.
