Documents Released About Infamous Flyover

Jim Gerahty reports on this on The Campaign Spot blog on National Review Online:

"3 million New Yorkers did not have a need to know."

On page 11 of the 533 page Friday afternoon document drop from the White House, a quote from an e-mail referring to the disastrous Air Force One flyby of lower Manhattan: "3 million New Yorkers did not have a need to know."

Page 22: "Will probably receive some local press, but WH (White House) shouldn't catch any questions about it."

Page 82: "The following press release will be offered when/if press inquiries are made." Love that "if." Apparently they thought it was possible no one in the press would ask about it.

Final Important House Panel Approves Health Care Bill

Final House Panel Approves Health Reform Bill

The vote was made possible by a deal brokered earlier this week between Democratic leaders and conservative "Blue Dog" Democrats, though health reform legislation still is being held up in one Senate committee

Friday, July 31, 2009

WASHINGTON -- A key House panel approved its version of major health care reform package Friday night, setting the full House up for a debate on the legislation after its August recess.

The House Energy and Commerce Committee, which voted Friday, was the last of three panels to approve a health bill. The vote was made possible by a deal brokered earlier this week between Democratic leaders and conservative "Blue Dog" Democrats, though health reform legislation still is being held up in one Senate committee.

The vote was 31-28, with 5 Democrats voting no and no Republicans supported the bill.

Is There Nobody Else to be Put on Time Magazine's Cover?

'Paging Dr. Obama' Makes It Seven Time Mag Covers Since Election for Obama

Time magazine's August 10 edition with President Barack Obama on the cover (“Paging Dr. Obama”) trying to heal the nation in a photo illustration as a physician, wearing a white smock with a stethoscope around his neck, brings to seven the number of issues the magazine's cover has featured Obama just since November's election -- make that eight for the First Family if you add in June 1's genuflecting “The Meaning of Michelle.” Amongst the seven of President Obama: “Person of the Year” and Obama as FDR.

What's Another $88 Billion Between Friends?

Lawmakers may extend the stimulus
Posted: 07/30/09 08:29 PM [ET]
A disparate collection of lawmakers and special interests is pushing to extend tax credits and other benefits — effectively proposing another economic stimulus with a price tag of at least $88 billion.

Their wish list applies to measures in February’s $787 billion stimulus that were passed to provide a temporary jolt to the economy.

Nearly six months later, these measures have developed entrenched constituencies, and members of both parties are pressing to retain favored priorities. Members are under acute pressure from voters to cushion workers and businesses from the worst recession in decades.

Abortion Option in ObamaCare Once Again

House Pro-Abortion Health Amendment Passes: Pro-Life Amendment Passed then Struck Down

Waxman predicts committee passage today

By Kathleen Gilbert

WASHINGTON, D.C., July 31, 2009 (LifeSiteNews.com) - A pro-abortion amendment proposed as a "common ground" amendment was voted into the House version of President Obama's healthcare overhaul by the Energy and Commerce Committee late Thursday, while a pro-life amendment achieved brief approval before it was struck down again hours later.

California Democrat Lois Capps, whose voting record was rated 100% pro-abortion by NARAL, introduced the faux "common ground" amendment that, while appearing to prohibit the abortion mandate in the healthcare overhaul, actually calls for the public plan to cover abortions and mandates that at least one abortion-covering plan be available in every U.S. region.  The amendment was passed 30-28.

House Passes Bill to Save 'Cash for Clunkers'

House Racing to Pass $2 Billion Bill to Boost 'Cash for Clunkers' Program

The House approved an additional $2 billion Friday for the financially strapped "cash for clunkers" car-rebate program, whose early success threatened to sink the system.

FOXNews.com

Friday, July 31, 2009

The House passed emergency legislation Friday approving an additional $2 billion for the "cash for clunkers" program, whose immediate popularity this week threatened to sink the program.

Skipping over regular procedure to obtain an immediate floor vote, the House Democrats' legislation would shuffle around funds from the Recovery and Reinvestment Act, an emergency stimulus for the original $1 billion budget for rebates on new cars that lawmakers worried had been exhausted in only a week.
