So two things that struck me today about Sotomayor today and they are that a. she disagrees (at least that's what she says) with Obama's definition of judges that he would appoint and b. she completely reversed herself on her "wise Latina" comment and all of her old statements. On the statement that she disagrees with Obama, the GOP should press her harder on that. Charles Krauthammer said basically that today on "Special Report w/ Bret Baier." All the Democrats on the Senate Judiciary Committee say that they approve of Obama's definition of judges he would appoint, yet Sotomayor doesn't agree with the Democrats and Obama. That could be a very interesting question and answer tomorrow or in the remaining time if any Republican Senator poses that question to her, but for some reason I doubt that that question will be asked.
As for her disavowing all her past statements and claiming that she misstated or she didn't really mean to say that in that way, Senator Graham was right by saying that she shouldn't become a speech writer, if her law career doesn't work out. Those statements were spoken by Sotomayor on many occasions. I think the count is between 5 and 7 times she said those words. She obviously meant those words then, so why change now. It is obvious that she wants the public to believe that she believes justice should be applied blindly. But, anybody watching the hearings can decipher otherwise. I could go on and on about what she said today or didn't say (majority of the time she didn't say much), but it wouldn't do any good because as I pointed out and for those who might have watched today, everything that could have been said I think has been said. I could go over her entire testimony today, but as I stated before nothing was really answered so the American people can get better understanding of who she really is. I think we learned more that Senators like baseball a lot and that Senator Leahy likes the Red Sox, while Senator Schumer and Sotomayor like the Yankees.
