Some key parts of “The Plan” – it lasts 100 years, it sounds like a call to end the two-party system…and it’s the title of Beck’s next book. Really.

John McCain may have been the Republican Party's national standard bearer last year, but now it looks like he may have a hard time just hanging on to his Senate seat.

A new Rasmussen Reports poll of likely 2010 GOP primary voters in Arizona finds the longtime incumbent in a virtual tie with potential challenger, J.D. Hayworth. McCain earns 45% of the vote, while Hayworth picks up 43%.

Another candidate, anti-illegal immigration activist Chris Simcox, is picking up 4%.

Hayworth, 51, a conservative former U.S. congressman who now is a popular radio talk show host in Phoenix, is reportedly interested in the race but has not formally declared for it.

Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-La.) announced on the floor Saturday that she would vote to kill a GOP-led filibuster designed to prevent a major health care overhaul from coming up for debate.

To help secure her vote, Reid also included a provision in the bill sought by Landrieu to provide increased Medicaid funds for states recovering from major disasters such as 2005’s Hurricane Katrina that devastated New Orleans and parts of Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama.

Landrieu defended the inclusion of the provision and said Republican critics who accuse her of selling her vote for $100 million are wrong and that she has the support of Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal (R) and Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius.

“I will correct something. It’s not $100 million, it’s $300 million, and I’m proud of it and will keep fighting for it,” Landrieu told reporters after her floor speech. “But that is not why I started this health care debate; I started this health care debate for all the reasons I just mentioned in my statement” on the floor.

Judge David "Not to Jesus Yes to Allah" Hamilton is Confirmed by the Senate

I missed this when it happened, but Hamilton was confirmed on Thursday by the Senate by a vote of 59-39. Only one Republican (Senator Lugar) voted with the Democrats.

Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-La.), one of two Democratic centrists previosuly not committed to supporting a crucial test vote on healthcare reform Saturday night, will back her party, according to the Democratic leadership.

Landrieu will formally declare her decision on the Senate floor early Saturday afternoon. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid's (D-Nev.) communications staff announced Landrieu's stance via its Twitter account: "Sen Landrieu will vote yes to allow debate on #hcr bill," the post says.

(CNSNews.com) - Senate Majority Harry Reid (D.-Nev.) late Wednesday published the final text of a Senate health care bill that would mandate federally subsidized abortion.

The mandate appears on page 120 of the 2,074-page bill under the seemingly innocuous heading: ‘Assured Availability of Varied Coverage Through Exchanges.”

Skelton not happy with 9/11 trials

The chairman of the House Armed Services Committee expressed opposition today to Attorney General Eric Holder's decision to give civilian trials to the 9/11 plotters.

Rep. Ike Skelton (D-Mo.) penned a letter to Holder and Defense Secretary Robert Gates suggesting military trials would be a more appropriate venue for the accused terrorists.
