The amendment is tabled by a vote of 53-46.
In asking for a vote on the amendment, sponsor of the amendment, Senator DeMint, said that this amendment passed by a vote of 98-0 in another previous bill, but was removed in conference. This amendment was previously sponsored by DeMint and Durbin. Senator Baucus and Durbin both stated that this would slow up the Senate even more, so they moved to table the amendment. Durbin said that this amendment is not right because he asked what if a state needed hurricane relief funds and it needed to be placed in a bill. Well, to answer your question, hurricane relief fund is I think a little different and more important than let's say studying why men have sex or giving money to fix lakes in a town or city that does not have lakes or any of the other wasteful pork projects in the stimulus package passed earlier in the year.
