Armey Endorses Conservative Primary Challenger to Bennett

Armey endorses conservative primary challenger to Bennett

By Alexander Bolton - 02/18/10 02:00 PM ET
Former House Majority Leader Dic- Armey (R-Texas) has endorsed a Republican primary challenger to Sen. Robert Bennett (Utah).

Armey announced his support for Mike Lee on Thursday at the CPAC conference in Washington, a gathering of movement conservatives and Tea Pary activists.

Armey, chairman of Freedom Works, a conservative advocacy group, called Bennett's record in the Senate disappointing and called for his ouster.

"Certainly the incumbent, Sen. Bennett, has given us our pause over the course of the past few years," Armey said. "We've had one disappointing vote after another."

Conservatives such as Erick Erickson, editor-in-chief of RedState.com have also called for Bennett's defeat because of they view as his centrist record in the Senate.

Top U.S. Climate Official Says 15 Years with No Global Warming is Not a Trend

Top U.S. Climate Official: 15 Years With No Global Warming Is Not a Trend
Thursday, February 18, 2010
By Karen Schuberg

(CNSNews.com) - When asked yesterday whether she agreed or disagreed with one of the world’s top climate-change scientists that there had been no statistically significant global warming over the last fifteen years, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Administrator Jane Lubchenco would only say “that it is inappropriate to look at any particular short period of time to discern the long-term trend.”

In fact, Lubchenco twice avoided directly answering a yes-no question as to whether she agreed with the observation that there has been no statistically significant global warming over the last decade and a half.

Schumer says no Republicans have committed to backing jobs bill

By Jay Heflin and Walter Alarkon - 02/18/10 04:36 PM ET
Democrats have yet to secure any Republican support for a $15 billion jobs bill, Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) said Thursday.

“I don’t think anyone has committed to voting for the package, but there are a number of people who say they are interested in looking at it,” said Schumer, the third-ranking member of Senate Democratic leadership.
