Most Ethical Congress

I should have posted this when it came out, but here it goes. The Young America's Foundation spokesman,  Jason Mattera, asks Representative William "Cold Cash" Jefferson of Louisiana asks how to hide 90,000 dollars of cash. Many of you know that Rep. William Jefferson was arrested for many things involving bribery and for the purpose of this discussion hiding 90,000 dollars of cash in his freezer. As Republicans in the House have been protesting about Nancy Pelosi's decision to adjourn instead of dealing with America's energy crisis, this video will make you just as happy as what the Republicans are doing now. This is disgusting that William Jefferson did not decide to resign, but as the trial starts this September, hopefully justice will be served. The most ethical congress, yea right.

Here is the video:

I'm not Surprised

Pelosi: At-risk Dems back drilling

California Democrat Nancy Pelosi may be trying to save the planet — but the rank and file in her party increasingly are just trying to save their political hides when it comes to gas prices as Republicans apply more and more rhetorical muscle.

But what looks like intraparty tension on the surface is part of an intentional strategy in which Pelosi takes the heat on energy policy, while behind the scenes she’s encouraging vulnerable Democrats to express their independence if it helps them politically, according to Democratic aides on and off Capitol Hill.

Pelosi’s gambit rests on one big assumption: that Democrats will own Washington after the election and will be able to craft a sweeping energy policy that is heavy on conservation and fuel alternatives while allowing for some new oil drilling. Democrats see no need to make major concessions on energy policy with a party poised to lose seats in both chambers in just three months — even if recess-averse Republicans continue to pound away on the issue.

So Really Diplomacy with Iran Does not Work? I'm Shocked

US: Iranian response on nukes unacceptable
Aug 5 02:22 PM US/Eastern
By MATTHEW LEE
Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON (AP) - Iran's response to an incentives package aimed at defusing a dispute over its nuclear program is unacceptable, U.S. officials said Tuesday, making the prospects of new sanctions against the country more likely.

The officials told The Associated Press that a brief one-page document Iran presented to European Union foreign policy chief Javier Solana is not, as had been sought, a definitive reply to the offer from major world powers to suspend uranium enrichment and reprocessing in exchange for economic and other benefits.

So what did the United States and the rest of EU expect from Iran. Diplomacy does not work with countries who don't want it to work. As much as you wish and hope that the party in question might have changed their minds it is not so easy to do that. The United States thought along with the EU that economic incentives were more important to Iran than their nuclear program, well by this statement clearly their nuclear program is more important to them. So what now? More talking with the terrorist backed regime? Nobody knows what to do next, but one thing that hopefully the United States learned is that talking aggressive diplomacy  with a country that has no desire to listen and change is hopeless. Senator Obama claims that President Bush failed in dealing with Iran and not pursuing aggressive diplomacy, well Mr. Obama I ask you what would you have done for change. Well, we probably know one thing if you were elected president you would sit down personally with Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. So really diplomacy with Iran does not work? I'm shocked.

You are Wrong

White House says no to special session of Congress
By Jackie Kucinich and Jared Allen
Posted: 08/04/08 01:32 PM [ET]

The White House has rejected calls from House Republicans that it convene a special session of Congress on energy, saying it wouldn’t make a difference.

“We don't have plans to call Congress into session -- it won't make a difference if Democratic leaders are unwilling to bring up a bill for an up-down vote,” said White House spokesman Tony Fratto.

He is wrong because it will make a difference even if it might just be a political move. If President Bush would have called Democrats back to Congress to debate and Nancy Pelosi does move to adjourn again, there is no doubt in my mind that the picture of her deciding to adjourn with all her Democratic friends will force voters to reconsider which party really wants to solve America's energy crisis. Of course Nancy Pelosi will not allow a vote, but it will great to see the Democrats actually abandon again without solving America's energy crisis. President Bush today showed that he is officially a lame duck president.

Plays by His Own Rules

ELECTION 2008
Palestinians donate $29,500 to Obama
Gazan brothers' illegal contributions listed in government election filings

JERUSALEM – Palestinian brothers inside the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip are listed in government election filings as having donated $29,521.54 to Sen. Barack Obama's campaign.

The donations would violate election laws, including prohibitions on receiving donations from foreigners and guidelines against accepting more than $2,300 from one individual during a single election, Bob Biersack, a spokesman for the Federal Election Commission, told WND in response to a query.

The contributions also raise numerous questions about the Obama campaign's lax online donation form, which apparently allows for the possibility of foreign contributions.

Very Promising News

New Poll: McCain 47, Obama 46 when leaners are included

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Monday shows the race for the White House is tied with Barack Obama and John McCain each attracting 44% of the vote. However, when "leaners" are included, it’s McCain 47% and Obama 46%.

This is the first time McCain has enjoyed even a statistically insignificant advantage of any sort since Obama clinched the Democratic nomination on June 3 (see recent daily results). Tracking Polls are released at 9:30 a.m. Eastern Time each day.

Keep on Fighting

House Republicans go back on the floor Monday to talk gas prices

Continuing with their guerilla tactics from last week, House Republicans will be back on the floor Monday to talk gas prices, even though Congress is in recess, and they may stay there all week.

More than a dozen Republicans have already committed to make appearances, according to House GOP leadership aide, including National Republican Congressional Committee Chairman Tom Cole (Okla.).

Rep. Tom Price (R-Ga.) and Mike Pence (R-Ind.), who lead Friday's five-hour talkathon after the House shut down for the August recess, are also expected to be there, according to this aide.

Update - Neither  Boehner nor Blunt are expected to be in attendance at Monday's talkfest, and its unclear if they will show up at any point during the week, according to GOP leadership aides.

See I'm thoroughly enjoying what the Republican House is doing, but one thing that I have to ask and it is why is not the Republican so called leaders (John Boehner and Roy Blunt) going to be in attendance. They really should be there since they are the minority leader and minority whip. Also, if Republicans want to make this a bigger story, then all Republicans who support drilling and did not vote to adjourn should be protesting along with a true leader in the House Congressman Mike Pence of Indiana. Otherwise this is great for the Republican party. Finally some energy because they need it most right now. This is an issue most of America agrees with, but the Democrats still don't want to respect the people's opinions. I really hope now that the media knows ahead of time, they can send somebody to cover this story. When I say media, I know that the MSM won't do anything, but Fox News should at least cover the story. I hope for a successful day tomorrow and hopefully for the rest of the weeks to come. I wish I was in Washington right now, but I urge anybody near there to attend this great occasion. One other note, Mr. President you really have to use your constitutional authority now and call Congress into a special session. If you want to show Americans that you are serious about solving America's energy crisis, you have to force the Democrats to come back to work.

More of the Real Obama

Every time someone writes a piece about the real Obama it is worth looking at. Stanley Kurtz has a excellent piece looking at his past when he was in the Illinois State Senate. He calls them the lost years. In that Senate he voted 132 times present. Is that a person ready to lead this great country. It describes his "post-racial politics, radical friends, and his war on poverty.

Here is the piece:

Are We Really Surprised Anymore?

Obama Backs Away From McCain Town Hall Challenge

by Associated Press
Saturday, August 2, 2008

WASHINGTON — Democratic candidate Barack Obama on Saturday backed away from rival John McCain’s challenge for a series of joint appearances before the political conventions, agreeing only to the standard three debates in the fall.

In May, when a McCain adviser proposed a series of pre-convention appearances at town hall meetings, Obama said, “I think that’s a great idea.” In summer stumping on the campaign trail, McCain has often noted that Obama had not followed through and joined him in any events.

Iran: No Deal

Saturday, August 02, 2008

July 19: Iran's chief nuclear negotiator Saeed Jalili at a joint press conference in Geneva.

Iran doesn't seem fazed by the West's looming threat of sanctions. Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said Saturday that his country wouldn't retreat "one iota" from its nuclear enrichment program, Reuters reported based on a statement posted on the presidential Web site.

Investor's Business Daily Series

Investor's Business Daily has an ongoing series describing Senator Obama's radical plans for this country. I don't know how many more editorials will they have on him, but I know there probably could be thousands. To keep an up-to-date look on what they are writing about here is the link:

http://www.ibdeditorials.com/series8.aspx

Investor's Business Daily should be commended for all their great work. While you are there, they're other great series on their website.

ANWR

Now that Nancy Pelosi has made the American people suffer, we should discuss why she is making us suffer and for what. I'm sure everybody now knows what is ANWR and where it is, but just to show an image here it is:

House GOP Keeps on Fighting

House Dems turn out the lights but GOP keeps talking

Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and the Democrats adjourned the House, turned off the lights and killed the microphones, but Republicans are still on the floor talking gas prices.

Minority Leader John A. Boehner (R-Ohio) and other GOP leaders opposed the motion to adjourn the House, arguing that Pelosi's refusal to schedule a vote allowing offshore drilling is hurting the American economy. They have refused to leave the floor after the adjournment motion passed at 11:23 a.m., and they are busy bashing Pelosi and her fellow Democrats for leaving town for the August recess.

At one point, the lights went off in the House and the microphones were turned off in the chamber, meaning Republicans were talking in the dark. But as Rep. John Shadegg (R-Ariz..) was speaking, the lights went back on and the microphones were turned on shortly afterward.

But C-SPAN, which has no control over the cameras in the chamber, has stopped broadcasting the House floor, meaning no one was witnessing this except the assembled Republicans, their aides, and one Democrat, Rep. Dennis J. Kucinich (D-Ohio), who has now left.

Only about a half-dozen Republicans were on the floor when this began, but the crowd has grown to about 20, according to Patrick O'Connor.

With the public viewing galleries shutting down for the night, Rep. Kevin Brady has just invited everyone down to the House floor to keep the protest going.

It has been quite the scene on the House floor this afternoon, as GOP staff members have kept the chamber filled with an eclectic assortment of people.

Boy Scouts, members of the German army, stray tourists and even members in shorts and t-shirts have all been spotted on the floor at different times.

While Democrats have privately decried the breakdown in order, Republicans defended the protest.

"You are not witnessing a revolt," said Rep. Mike Pence. "You are witnessing democracy in action."

Rep. Donald Manzullo also delivered a passionate speech, saying today was his late father's birthday.

After relating how his father, an Italian immigrant, came to live in Illinois and own a little grocery store,  Manzullo brought the crowd to its feet with this line: "The people of this country are rising up and saying, 'We want our country back!'"

This is great news. Even though this was not televised hopefully the fair and balanced station (Fox News) can cover this story. This protest shows that there is still some life in the GOP and that they are willing to fight for what Americans want because after all this is the people's house. The fact that Democrats tried to close the lights and microphones numerous times just shows you that they will do anything to censor free speech especially having to do with the debate on oil. What is sad is that the Democrats are going away for five weeks and drilling has not come up for a vote yet. The American people are hurting and it is because of Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid. Hopefully the president will call Congress back into a special session to deal with America's energy crisis. If President Bush does do that it will show that he is no lame duck president. This protest is definitely a win for the GOP as long as it is reported somewhere hopefully.
